Archie Plex - Search for files on FTP servers all over the world. From our friends at Nexor in the UK.

AT1 - Search the invisible web. Believe it or not!

Clearinghouse at the University of Michigan - Search the Clearinghouse's vast inventory.

DejaNews - Search the Usenet newsgroups by subject. Tracks 10,000+ UseNET discussion Groups

Dogpile - Get a pile of answers to your queries with Dogpile.

Education World Search Engine - Get educated with this search engine

European Directory - If european sites are what you want, this place will help you locate it.

Excite - I was excited when I found out that this search engine contains more files than even Lycos. Links to over 11 million pages. A first choice of my personal favorite search engines.

Fish Search - Nothing to do with fish.

The Front Page/LinkStar Search Engine - Getting faster & better all the time.

FTPSearch v3.6 - Need the newest version of that program but don't know which ftp site has it? Try this.

GoTo.com - Go here to go to anything you desire.

Highway 61 - Roll on this highway and see what you can find.

HotBot - It's got what's HOT. Complete Web index and probably ranked as #1 search engine. A second choice of my personal favorite search engines.

HumanSearch - Real human beings look for whatever you tell them to and then they email you the results.

Hytelnet - A Telnet search engine

Identify - Search the web using IDML.

Image Surfer - You Like Pictures? Find them here. From our friends at Yahoo.

Inference Find - Uses Parallel searches to find what you need.

Infohiway - Something they claim to be "surfing" as opposed to "searching". I personally haven't tried it.

InfoSeek - Popular commercial search engine. Over 400,000 Web pages full text.

Info Space - Go submit your homepages so that you too can be amongst Who's Who on the net

Inktomi - UC. Berkeley research prototype. I didn't know this search engine existed untill last week.

Internet Grateful Med - An old NLM's free MedLine search engine.

Internet Rank Engine - Ranks right up there with the best.

Internet Registry - Forget where that friend's web page is located? Try looking in the Internet Registry.

Internet Sleuth - The Sherlock Holmes of search engines.

InterNIC - The directory of directories.

Irena - An Australian based search engine.

Link Master - Master the web with this cool search tool.

LinkStar - A business, corporate name type search engine.

List of Lists - A Gopher search engine.

Lycos - Pretty thorough but also pretty busy during the day - Best used at night. One of my personal favorite search engines.

Magellan search engine - Never tried it.

Mamma - Your Mamma knows all.

Matilda - Large, well organized and responsive Australian Search Engine.

Medscape - A popular search engine for medical information.

Metacrawler - You'll be moving alot faster than a crawl with this massive meta search tool.

Meta Search - Large meta based search tool.

Mother Load Insane Search - Don't let the web drive you insane, just go here and hit the Mother Load.

Nerd World Media - I always knew nerds were good for something.

Netlink - Search engine at Washington University.

New Riders' Official World Wide Web Yellow Pages - Let your browser do the walking through these Yellow Pages.

The Nihongo Yellow Pages - English/Japanese business directory.

Open Text Index - Very powerful.....use Boolean, ranked, or simple keyword based searches.

SIFT - This engine at Stanford University sifts through Usenet newsgroups to find the articles you want.

Veronica - A Gopher search engine

The Virtual Tourist - Nothing to do with travel...unless of course that is what you are searching for.

W3 Servers - Another geographic server search like the virtual tourist.

WWWomen - Search for topics pertaining to women. Women are one of my favorite things.

WebCrawler - Usually pretty fast and thorough. Has become one of my personal favorite search engines.

WebSeek - Search for images and video on the web.

WebSeer - Find pictures of almost anything with this.

WWW Worm - Items of interest can be selectively set.

Virtual Yellow Pages - Comprehensive, easy to use directory of Web Sites & Information.

Yahoo! - One of my students' favorite starting point. Usually productive, available & fast.
